Do I need to book a place?
No need to book - just turn up at your preferred class and join in.
Where's my nearest class?
Go to the "Classes" page for your area to find a list of all the local classes.
By clicking on the address of the class you can print out directions.
What do I need to wear?
You do not need a karate suit (gi) straight away. Come along to class in
comfortable clothing, i.e. jogging bottoms & t-shirt, tracksuit or similar. All classes are done in bare feet so
no need for expensive foot wear.
How much does it cost?
What do I need to bring?
The correct class fee, a bottle of water & enthusiasm.
Where do I get my karate suit from if I decide to join?
These can be purchased from your instructor when you feel ready.
What colour belt do I start on?
The first belt is white.
What do I need to do to get the belts?
Each belt has it's own syllabus. When the instructor thinks you are ready, you
will go to grade.
Is my child ready to grade?
The black stripe system on their belts indicates whether they are ready.
Three or more full stripes means YES they are!
As each child is individual and learns at their own pace
- the stripe system is the instructor's indication of each child's ability. In simple terms three stripes given
by an instructor means the child is considered ready to grade.
Is karate for everyone?
YES - nobody is too old, overweight, unfit, unco-ordinated, not flexible enough,
lacking in ability, or lacking in confidence. We welcome everyone at SAMA regardless of age, ability or excuses!!
All students work to their own level & ability making it suitable for absolutely EVERYONE!
